Kabaddi is Bangladesh's national sport, and franchise leagues across South Asia have turned it into a fast, televised contest with plenty of scoring. For betting, the key is understanding where points come from, because almost every market is a bet on points: who gets more, by how much, and how many in total. This guide explains the scoring, the common markets and how to read a points line, using hypothetical numbers only.
How kabaddi scores
Two teams of seven take turns to send a raider into the opposing half. The raider touches defenders and returns to their own half to score a point for each one touched. Defenders score by stopping the raider from getting back. Extra points come from bonus lines, from "all-outs" when an entire side is eliminated, and from super tackles in some formats.
Matches in professional leagues are usually two halves of 20 minutes. Because raids are continuous, scores can climb quickly, and a single all-out can swing a close game by several points in moments. That volatility is exactly what makes totals and handicaps lively markets.
Common kabaddi markets
The range depends on the competition and the sportsbook. These are the markets most often listed:
| Market | What you are betting on | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Match winner | Which team wins | Some books offer a draw price; others use two-way |
| Handicap | A team wins after a points head start or deficit | Lines such as -4.5 points |
| Total points | Combined points over or under a line | Lines such as 70.5 |
| First half winner | Leader at half time | Settles at 20 minutes |
| Team totals | One team's points over or under a line | Less common |
Reading a points line: a worked example
Imagine a hypothetical total points line of 72.5, with Over at 1.90 and Under at 1.90. Each implies 52.6% (1 divided by 1.90), so together they add up to 105.3%, meaning a margin of about 5%. If you thought a high-tempo match was likely, you might lean Over. If it finishes 38-36, that is 74 points and Over wins; a ৳500 stake returns ৳950.
The handicap works similarly. If Team A is -3.5, they need to win by four or more. A 40-37 win is only three points, so the handicap bet loses even though Team A won the match. That single all-out late in a game can move the margin by several points, so small handicap lines can flip quickly.
Things worth checking first
Kabaddi rules differ a little between leagues and international events, such as how tied matches are handled and whether golden raids are used. Those details change how winner markets settle. The sportsbook's rules section will explain settlement, and it is worth reading before you place a bet on a competition you have not followed. Line-up news matters too: one top raider missing can change a team's scoring pattern. Keep stakes to a fixed unit, as explained in our unit betting post.
