- Know your limit
Every bet has a price, and over time the house edge means players as a group lose. That is not a reason for panic; it is a reason to budget. This page explains how to turn gambling into a fixed, planned cost, which warning signs suggest it is drifting out of control, and what steps to take if it does. It applies to everyone, whether you play slots once a month or follow every over of a cricket match.
Treat play as a cost, not an income
For example, if your monthly spending money is ৳10,000 and you decide that at most 10% may go on entertainment of this kind, your gambling budget is ৳1,000. Once it is gone, the month is finished. Winnings are a pleasant surprise, not a plan. Never use money meant for rent, food, school fees or bills, and never borrow to play.
Limits that actually work
Many casinos offer deposit limits, cool-off periods and self-exclusion in the account settings or through support. Ask PJOK support which tools your account has.
- A monthly deposit cap, written down before the month starts
- A session time limit, with an alarm on your phone
- A loss limit per session, after which you stop for the day
- No playing when upset, tired or after drinking
- Breaks: at least one day a week with no betting at all
Warning signs
Any one of these is worth taking seriously:
Thinking like "I am due a win" is the gambler's fallacy, and "I have lost too much to stop now" is the sunk cost fallacy. Both are explained on our blog.
- Chasing losses with bigger or more frequent bets
- Hiding how much or how often you play
- Feeling restless or irritable when not playing
- Borrowing, selling things or skipping bills to fund bets
- Missing work, study or family time because of gambling
Getting help
If gambling is causing harm, stop depositing and ask PJOK support to close or self-exclude your account. Tell someone you trust, such as a family member or friend, and consider speaking to a doctor, who can point you to local counselling. You do not need to wait until things are severe to ask for help.
Blocking apps and removing saved wallet details from your phone add friction that makes impulsive play harder. Our cost per hour explainer can help you see what regular sessions really cost.
